SUMMARY

I am seeking a role with project management, IT leadership, and IT governance components. I have extensive background in interfacing with external clients, internal IT solution teams, and building processes to help drive efficiency and throughput.

An ideal opportunity will utilize my skills in software technology, project management, and team leadership. I am specifically interested in an organization that not only needs a champion for executing high value IT projects within budget, schedule, and quality objectives but also values a leader with a passion for continuous improvement.

A differentiating value I bring is a process-oriented view point, Agile related industry best practices, and a lot of passion for continuous improvement. I have been part of transformation from a waterfall environment to Agile at Thomson Reuters and have advocated Agile practices at Kroll Ontrack, Best Buy, and Pearson VUE. I am trained in change management and have utilized its principles to influence teams towards Agile best practices.

I am a big-picture strategic thinker and passionate in identifying opportunities for improvement, efficiency, and cost savings.

Pearson VUE                                                                              September 2013 – Feb 2015

Sr. Program/Project Manager, Computer Based Assessment

Client Launches - Responsible for overall delivery of software work products across several teams towards the goal of successful client launches. Each client launch utilizes an existing SDLC that involves a series of steps – analyze contract documents, identify and document requirement gaps across platforms, identify and engage stable platform teams responsible for work products, allocate project budget across work products and teams, track schedule and expense associate with each work product, and integrate all the work. All along the process, scope of the work is strictly managed; risks associated are closely monitored and documented; and end–user is kept informed.

During my stay at Pearson VUE, I have managed 4 client launches. Given the organization structure, at any point in time, several client launches are simultaneously managed by each program manager. Features to be implemented through stable teams are continuously prioritized against other client driven and roadmap enhancements. Program/project managers play a critical role in defining project activities, understand their dependencies, estimating effort, developing schedule, and controlling costs.

Budget – A typical client launch budget varies from $200k to $1m. During my stay at Pearson VUE I have completed 4 client launches in 2013-2014 with a combined budget of $4m.

Organization – Among other teams, I have worked with 3 project teams - candidate registration, test authoring, and test delivery.  All platform teams follow Agile teams and are managed by individual SCRUM masters. In addition to these teams I interface with infrastructure, Devops, and database, steering committee, stakeholders, and customer support center teams.

Technology stack – Single page application based on Angularjs framework, jQuery, REST webservices, SOAP services, Spring, Hibernate DAO, JSF, Tomcat, Web MVC, JUnit, Oracle DB.

Tool stack – Sublime, Intellij, npm, nodejs, Yeoman, Grunt, Bower, Github/stash, Perforce, TeamCity, uDeploy, JIRA, TWIST, Confluence.

Key Actions and Accomplishments:

Ø       Conduct all project management activities and manage cross-team coordination.

Ø       Facilitate a series of scope meetings with platform teams to lead scope planning and scope definition effort towards the goal of a collaborative charter that includes high level estimates and schedule timelines. The scope meetings include global business representatives and subject matter experts. Product Owners, Business Analysts, and product architects from platform teams contribute as needed.

Ø       Plan and allocate platform resources for the overall project and their utilization throughout the program.

Ø       Plan schedule for the entire project with specific mile stones for each platform.

Ø       Budget cost for the specific deliverables. Create charge items in PPM, assign charge items to project resources, and set chargeable limits for each resource.

Ø       Create a delivery road map for program components and integrate them with other project deliveries in flight.

Ø       Create and document project management plan following existing PMO practices. Create new templates and negotiate new SDLC process standards. Use SharePoint for all project documentation.

Ø       Oversee project execution and control scope changes. Evaluate overall project performance on a regular basis to provide confidence that the project will satisfy relevant quality standards and comply with regulatory requirements. Keep all program related documentation up-to-date and provide regular status updates.
